The City of Kettering’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department is currently looking for a full-time Parks Manager.
This experienced professional plans and supervises the work of Parks Service workers and seasonal groundskeepers in the maintenance and development of park grounds and facilities. This supervisory position oversees a variety of laboring tasks that require knowledge of proper methods of park maintenance. The supervisor assigns and lays out work for work crews and instructs personnel in proper methods and procedures to be followed. Assigns priority of work projects and assembles work crews for emergencies.
This position also assists in the design of parks and park features including master plans, play equipment, sports fields, trails, landscapes, etc. while also acting as a liaison between the recreation, Fraze, and Arts divisions for special events, festivals and other programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Thorough knowledge of grounds maintenance and other park maintenance operations. Thorough knowledge and skill in the operation of equipment used in parks maintenance, as well as a thorough knowledge of safety precautions applicable to the duties of this position. Must have the ability to train subordinate personnel in the safe use and operation of equipment; to give clear instructions and training to personnel and to plan and supervise the work of others. Must be able to write and speak in an effective manner and present ideas to city staff and public groups. Must be in adequate physical condition to perform the duties of the position. A high degree of integrity, good professional judgment, motivation, positive attitude and a willingness to put forth time
and effort to successfully carry out the responsibilities of the position are also required. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with city staff members, volunteers and the general public.
COMPENSATION:
Annual salary up to $100,901 with entry rate contingent on candidate’s related skills, education, knowledge and abilities. Excellent benefits.
