The ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) is a voluntary qualification program designed to train and assess candidates in a specialized field of arboriculture. When a professional earns the ISA TRAQ credential, they should be recognized by their peers and the public as a tree care professional who has specialized knowledge in tree risk assessment. To earn the qualification, eligible candidates must complete a training course, and pass both a comprehensive written assessment and a performance-based assessment. To maintain the qualification, current credential holders must retrain and retest every five years.
Eligibility can be met by having earned one of the following credentials or designations:
- ISA Certified Arborist® or ISA Board Certified Master Arborist®
- A degree in arboriculture, urban forestry, traditional forestry, or horticulture that is part of a national qualifications framework or is from a college or university
- A national certification or certificate in arboriculture
- An approved arboriculture licensing or certification granted by a state/province
For a complete list of eligibility requirements and accepted credentials, please access the Tree Risk Assessment Qualification Application Guide.
If you hold an ISA certification, you can earn 14.5 ISA CEUs if you complete the ISA Tree Risk Assessment course. These CEUs can be applied to your ISA Certified Arborist® credential. ISA Board Certified Master Arborist® will receive 6 CEUs toward practice, 6 to management, and 2.5 to science.
Class size is limited to 20 individuals.
Registration Fee: ISA Member $625 Registration Deadline: Registration closes after 20 seats are filled or April 21, whichever comes first. The course fee includes the ISA Tree Risk Assessment manual, workbook, risk assessment clipboard, and lunch during the two-day training. Course materials will be mailed approximately 3 weeks before the course. Participants must complete preliminary work in the workbook prior to arriving at the course and bring course materials to the training. |
