Title: Tree Risk Assessment for Non-Experts
Description: With the roll-out of ISA's TRAQ program and much ongoing research in tree biomechanics and strength factors of decay and other tree defects, Tree Risk Assessment has received a lot of attention in recent years. However, most tree workers who will be climbing trees or rigging from them do not have a TRAQ arborist and usually do not even have a certified arborist on the crew. This Tree Talk is designed to give non-expert tree workers and/or the people that supervise those crews some basic tools to identify potentially hazardous trees or parts of trees prior to entering the tree or rigging from it.
Presenter: Bob Meoak
Bio: Bob Meoak has been a certified arborist since 1995 and a Board Certified Master arborist since 2014. He holds both ISA's TRAQ credential as well as ASCA's TPAQ. Bob is a graduate of ASCA's Tree Consulting Academy and is pursuing his RCA. He has managed large tree operations for Davey Tree in multiple markets including starting the successful Nashville, TN market for Davey. He is a recipient of the President's Award from the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council (TUFC) for "Outstanding Contributions to Urban Forestry". Bob is currently a consulting arborist with Tree Care, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio.
ISA CEUs: 1.0 Certified Arborist, Utility Specialist, Municipal Specialist, BCMA Management, TW Climber Specialist, TW Aerial Lift Specialist
