Title: Steps in Plant Problem Diagnosis

Description: The steps in plant problem diagnosis presentation will contain a collection of information from the basics of the sciences involved in making a diagnosis, why a correct diagnosis is important, and the detailed steps of how to get to a diagnosis in the field and some tools that can be used. This presentation will also include instructions about how to submit a sample to a diagnostic laboratory if a field diagnosis is in question or further examination is desired.

Presenter: Kodi Reidel, Supervisor of the Diagnostic Laboratory, The Davey Tree Expert Co.

Bio: Kodi Riedel is the Davey Institute Diagnostic Laboratory Supervisor. She has been in the green industry for thirteen years. As supervisor, Kodi leads the diagnostic laboratory support services for the Davey Tree Expert Company throughout the United States and Canada. Her responsibilities also include plant problem diagnosis, report writing, lab management, and technical advising to field based arborists in the industry. Throughout her career with Davey she has worked on various research projects including nature clock, urban forest tree evaluations and pollinator habitat management and development. Mrs. Riedel is an Adjunct Professor at the Kent State University and she actively serves on the Ohio Chapter ISA’s Education and Public Outreach Committee as co-chair.
