This workshop will teach tree workers about basic chainsaw and chipper operations. Topics covered will include chainsaw maintenance and proper use for ground operations, chipper maintenance and proper use, job site setup, and safety protocols. Learners can expect to gain hands-on experience along with instruction. Participants are expected to bring their PPE approved for tree care operations including, but not limited to, chainsaw chaps or pants, helmet, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and safety toe boots. If a participant does not have certain PPE items, some items will be available to use but supplies will be limited. Dress for weather conditions; the event will continue as weather permits.

Matthew Brinker is a safety instructor with Penn Line where a solid safety track record is more than just a bread-and-butter qualification. It is a fundamental ethical obligation to ensure the safety of its employees, customers, and the public, on and off the job site. Matthew instructs employees with adult learning strategies to ensure that learning sticks and always reiterates that productivity never trumps safety.
Brian Christensen is the Senior Safety Lead for Wright Tree Service in Youngstown. His job entails building and coaching an industry-leading team. His team’s work is critical to creating an outstanding experience for clients and assisting the organization to achieve its goals and continue to follow strategic plans. Brian is an ISA Certified Arborist, TRAQ credentialed, First Aid/CPR/AED instructor, and TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional.
Brian Goodall is the city forester for Dublin, Ohio. He holds multiple credentials including ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist, First Aid/CPR/AED instructor, and the TCIA Certified Treecare Safety Professional.
