Daniel started in trees as a kid spending a lot of time outside playing, climbing trees, wandering in the woods and developing a love of the outdoors. As he got older he worked with his family outside, clearing brush on the family farm, making maple syrup (for nearly 40 years), and learning to identify various trees on walks with his Dad.
In college, Daniel studied music and history, thinking he would be a teacher. But after getting married, starting a family and working full-time to provide for them, he finished his undergraduate degree with a BA in management from Malone University. First in restaurants, then in manufacturing, Daniel began learning the importance of providing excellent customer service and how it can become a competitive advantage.
After working for a local tree service company learning the ropes and assisting in sales, Daniel began his own tree service business in the summer of 2006. Smith Family Tree Service primarily catered to residential clients in NE Ohio, specifically in Portage and Summit counties and surrounding communities. In 2012, after merging with The Lumberjack Complete Tree Service, Inc., Daniel worked as Sales Manager. During this time, he also began speaking to local business groups and giving maple syrup making educational tours for various groups.
In 2017 Daniel started Treecision Arborcare, a client advocate tree service that helps people understand and manage their tree and shrub care needs. It also provides consulting arborist services along with speaking, training and educational workshop experiences.
Daniel is a member of the American Society of Consulting Arborists and the International Society of Arboriculture. His credentials include ISA Certified Arborist® OH-6673A and Tree Risk Assessment Qualified. He is also a licensed Auctioneer. He is working to become an ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist with plans to achieve the ISA Board Certified Master Arborist credentials.
Available as an arborist, consultant, speaker and trainer, Daniel works to tailor presentations and workshops to the needs of each client from hands-on training and sensory experiences to PowerPoint presentations and interactive lectures. Daniel is an effective communicator and comfortable in front of various sized groups from small to large.
