Title: Tree Preservation During Construction
Description: Development, reclamation and redevelopment projects often destroy valuable urban forest resources both during and following the construction process, but this does not have to be the case. When existing trees are carefully considered from the beginning of projects and treated as full design features, they can often be protected in place or moved to a safe location. The right strategies and methods will lead to success in protecting and preserving trees. When we evolve from attempting to save existing trees as-is to treating them as living design features fully integrated into the landscape and urban ecosystem, we will not merely be practicing tree preservation, but we will be practicing urban forest conservation.
